Open space is land publicly accessible for community enjoyment. The Municipality of the District of Digby boasts some of the most beautiful landscapes in the province that includes beaches, basalt cliffs, trails, and old growth Acadian forest. With almost 200 km of coastline in the Municipality, the water has defined much of the District’s industry (e.g. fishing, ecotourism) as well as it’s cultural identity.
A Parks and Open Spaces Plan was developed in partnership with Urban Perspectives and through intense values-based community engagement for the Municipality. Thirty actions were developed to ensure the successful implementation of this strategic plan.
